Revision Games.
Revision can take many forms and can often be reinforced by the use of interactive and board games. These will test your knowledge and understanding.
- DT Pictionary will test your understanding and recognition of both drawing and guessing packaging and product symbols.
- DT Monopoly is played similar to the board game but each square represents a past exam paper question. Instead of playing for properties, you are playing for points.
-DT Jenga test your subject knowledge by playing the wood tower game! The person with the most blocks at the end of the game wins!
-DT Blockbusters will test your knowledge in teams of two by selecting a letter, answering a question and making it to the other end.
-DT Snakes & Ladders will test students subject knowledge in a fun and engaging method.
-Flow Chart Activity. Assists with understanding for the batch manufacturing question.
Good luck!

DT Revision Jenga.
DT Revision Jenga will test students understanding of section A and all core theory topics in section B. Students will play in pairs with an additional student participating as the quiz master. The quiz master will assemble the Jenga blocks (which have a laser etched question number on it). Students will take it in pairs to remove a block and answer the corresponding question.
If they get the answer correct this will be recorded as a point by the quiz master on the game scoring sheet. The block will then be placed back on top of the Jenga tower. Students are NOT allowed to select the same block twice and will be penalised (a point removed) for doing so.
A fun, revision game allowing students to test their general subject knowledge both written and drawn.

Packaging net for the Jenga Game can be printed, cut out and assembled to store the Jenga blocks. To reduce costs why not cut out your own Jenga blocks with etched on lettering using a laser cutter? Packaging net can also be laser cut out for easy and professional assembly.

Styled on the iconic snakes and ladders game, students will play in pairs and roll a dice following the game board instructions. If students land on a Q square they will need to answer that revision question. If they get it correct they claim the point. if they get it wrong or don't know the other player is able to claim the point. The winner is the player who completes the board with the most points.

Revision Flow Charts.
In the exam paper you are often presented a question regarding the manufacture of a product in batches of 200. In that question you will have to provide the manufacturing sequence either as a sequence diagram or a flow chart.
A flowcharts describes a sequence of operations. All flowcharts use the same symbols, linked with arrows to show the direction of the flow. Flow charts have different shaped boxes. The start and finish are rectangular with rounded corners, the process boxes are rectangular with square corners, the decision box is a diamond and all boxes are joined by arrows showing the direction of flow.
This activity uses acrylic cut flowchart pieces which you will be able to write on with a dry wipe marker pen and assemble into a fully working flow chart to help you with your revision and understanding.

This is an example of a flow chart for how to make a cup of tea. In this exam a feed back loop has been added. This is included when a decision is asked. For example has the water boiled? No go back and boil/ensure the kettle is on. Yes it ready to be used in to make the cup. |
Students using the resources.
Students often struggle with the batch product question which is a yearly question and worth 20% of the whole paper. Students are required to pick a product from a list and explain the main material, manufacturing methods, health and safety implications and produce either a flow chart or sequence diagram. Students are often confused by this question and marks are missed.
By practicing sequence diagrams (template worksheets) and flow charts (acrylic white tiles which can be written on with a dry wipe pen) the method can be repeated and learnt in a practical manner which reinforces and helps students memorise and repeat the answers in the exam.
